    The Life is good Playmakers are the philanthropic action arm of the Life is good Company and an accredited 501(c)(3) public charity. Their vision is a world where all children grow-up feeling safe, loved and joyful. In order to make this vision a reality, The Life is good Playmakers partner with frontline professionals – such as teachers, social workers and child life specialists – who dedicate their lives to helping children overcome poverty, violence and illness. These Playmakers use the power of play to build healing, life-changing relationships with the children in their care.

    Job Summary

    this playful individual will be the behind-the-scenes guru for our Playmaker Finance team during the summer of 2013. They will assist our Finance Manager in accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, as well as strengthening back-end record keeping and finance operations as we ramp up during our busiest time of the year – the annual Life is good Festival. 

    The position is part time, 2-3 days per week. Interested applicants would be eligible to receive course credit from their higher education institutions in compensation for their time at this internship.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist in processing accounts payable and receivable on a weekly basis.
    • Assist in preparation of monthly close of organization’s financials.
    • Organize and file physical records in line with auditors’ recommendations.
    • Assist in Festival donation tracking and donor acknowledgement as needed.
    • Process expense reimbursements for employees.

    Qualifications:

    • Currently an undergraduate student majoring in Finance or Accounting, with eligibility to obtain course credit for an internship. 
    • Nonprofit accounting/finance knowledge preferred, or at minimum a desire to learn nonprofit accounting/finance.
    • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Apple/Mac OS, and QuickBooks accounting software.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • The ability to prioritize work, attend to details, multitask, follow directions, and follow-through on tasks is critical.
    • Energetic, playful, and confident.
    • Highly dependable and strong professional demeanor.
