Volunteer FAQs

How do I sign up to volunteer?

Volunteer registration for the 2013 Life is good Festival is happening now. CLICK HERE to sign up to volunteer.

How are volunteers selected and assigned to a position?

Volunteers must submit their application by August 1st. Any applications submitted after this time will be placed on a wait list and may be considered if positions become available.

  • Once the application is submitted it is assigned by date, time and area of interest.
  • If you have been selected to volunteer a Team Leader will be in contact with you in mid August regarding your assigned position.

Can volunteers be V.G.P.'s too?

Yes, volunteers can be V.G.P.'s too. If you are a volunteer and raise $500 you can have access to the V.G.P. area after your scheduled shift.

Do I need a ticket if I volunteer?

No. We cannot refund tickets once purchased so please do not buy with the intention of exchanging it for a volunteer credential.

When will I be required to be at check-in and ready to work?

This all depends on where and when you are working. Volunteers are on hand to help out when and where they are needed. You may end up getting pulled from one area and shifted to another, based on changing needs. The key is to be flexible and willing to lend a hand. Once you are approved to be a volunteer your Team Leader will contact you with specifics regarding check-in.

I am a registered Nurse or trained EMT, can I volunteer to work in the medical tents?

While a medical background is ALWAYS appreciated onsite, the volunteer program does not outfit the medical tents with any volunteers. There are an extremely limited number of positions for nurses and doctors and only slightly more EMT positions. We will forward your request on to the appropriate department and they will contact you if they have positions available.

What are the perks (besides getting to be a part of such a sweet music festival)?

Each volunteer will receive:

  • A Life is good VOLUNTEER tee shirt handed out with your assignment at registration.
  • A Life is good VOLUNTEER wristband that will give you access to the festival.
  • A Life is good food voucher for each shift that you work, that will give you access to free food and drink at the Volunteer Hospitality tent.
  • A chance to meet new people.
  • A thank you letter signed by Life is good co-founders Bert and John Jacobs.

Do volunteers get to see the show?

Yes. As a volunteer you are welcome to see the show during your free time as long as you show up on time and are ready to work when scheduled.

What do volunteers do?

During the festival, volunteers will work shorter shifts on Saturday or Sunday. Depending on how much time you can commit to the festival, your job will vary throughout the weekend to cover the areas wherever support people are needed most.

What are the requirements of volunteers?

  • All volunteers must be 18 years or older (or 10-17 years old with an adult). Adults should submit registration prior to registering the accompanying minor.
  • Each festival volunteer will complete (1) shift, typically four hours in length. This is the minimum requirement - some volunteers may be asked to work extra.
  • Volunteer applications are used in scheduling and assigning different areas of the festival. Please be sure to select the correct availability and area(s) of interest. We will do our best to schedule volunteers around their choices, but this may not always be possible.
  • Volunteers agree to show up and be on time to all assigned shifts. This is very important, as our festival could not take place without the hard work from our volunteers!

Team Leader FAQs

How do I apply to be a volunteer or Team Leader?

Volunteer registration for the 2013 Life is good Festival is happening now.  CLICK HERE  to sign up to volunteer.

What's the difference between a Team Leader and a volunteer?

If you join as a Team Leader, you'll make a commitment to participate in your assigned role for the entire festival weekend. You should also be able to attend the Team Leader meetings prior to the festival. Team Leaders are essential to making the event run smoothly as they coordinate each of their team members in their assigned area.
In addition, we need many volunteers at the festival. If you join as a volunteer, you'll make a commitment to participate in your assigned role for an entire day or partial day Saturday and Sunday. Volunteers are encouraged to volunteer both days if available. The event could not take place if it wasn't for the hard work of our Team Leaders and volunteers.

What do Team Leaders do?

Team leaders play a vital role in spreading smiles and good vibes at Life is good festivals. As the festival support system, Team Leaders perform numerous (and varied) jobs at the festival that are essential to its success. Team Leaders are in charge of their assigned team and are required to work both days at the festival.

What are Team Leaders responsibilities?

  • Attending Team Leader meetings prior to the festival.
  • Communicating festival information with your team of volunteers via phone and email.
  • Managing your volunteer team both days of the festival.
  • Being onsite for the full festival — both days.
  • Enthusiasm for spreading good vibes!
