The more things change the more they…well, you know the rest. When the leaves start transforming from their lush summer shades to their vibrant red and golden tones here in New England, it’s impossible not to feel the shifting vibes in the air. This year, the dropping temps and steadily decreasing daylight hours have us pondering the nature of change.
Fall is my favorite time of year, and I look forward to the transitions of the season as a chance to have a fresh start. That’s why we compiled a few of our favorite tips for how to approach change and transition with an optimistic mindset.
Fall is a natural time to reflect on what’s working in your life (and also what’s not). Spend some time reflecting on the past few months and note any habits you’ve picked up or goals you’ve set. Are they still serving you? If they are, keep on truckin’! If they aren’t, now is a great time to switch it up by adopting a new positive habit or setting a fresh goal you’re excited about.
Change and uncertainty can be scary, but they can also be exhilarating. Getting excited (rather than nervous) about a new stage of life is a great way to keep a positive ‘tude. Remember, change often means learning, leveling up, and growing.
Keeping up with your established routines is a great way to remain grounded amidst major (or even minor) change. Whether you love a brisk morning run or prefer a cozy hour of nighttime reading, whatever you do for yourself that brings peace and joy to your days—do it consistently! When life is shifting, relying on routine is key.
It’s no secret that we love gratitude here at Life is Good—it’s one of our ten Superpowers, after all. Keeping track of the positive things in your life is a powerful way to realize that as life shifts, there’s always more good stuff out there to discover and appreciate.
At the end of the day, change is inevitable—nothing stays the same forever. The more you can approach change with the eyes (and heart) of an optimist, the more fun you’ll end up having.
Your stories of optimism have shaped and steered Life is Good from day one. THANK YOU and write on!
