What age were you when you won the contest?

8 years old

Can you tell us about your winning design? How did you come up with it or what inspired it?

My winning design was about loving excavators and life.  My dad loves Life is Good shirts and we always went into stores and I never saw any excavator or construction type shirts for those types of workers, so I wanted to make them feel included and thought an excavator digging with Jake would be a great design for construction people and also for Life is Good since Jake is Digging and Digging Life.

How was your experience winning the design contest? How did it feel to see your design on a t-shirt?

It felt awesome because I Love Life is Good and it was so cool seeing my design on a life is good t-shirt and seeing so many people wear it was so epic. My dad had a friend from Disney world text him a picture of some random person wearing my shirt at the Magic Kingdom.  That was insane!

How do you get inspired to create something new?

Lots of times I get inspired by my hobbies and things I love to do.

What process, materials, techniques, etc., do you use to create your artwork these days?

I just finished a group art class which was a lot of fun.  We used materials like paint, special brush pencils and shading pencils.  I make a lot of art on the computer and use some of my work from school is posted on Artsonia. 

How have you gotten creative in the past year? Did you find it easier (or harder) to create during everything going on?

I thought it was a lot easier this year because I had more down time to be creative and more home time to work on projects and drawing and all types of art and crafts.

What advice can you give someone who might be going through a hard time?

I’m thinking of you, never give up, and stay positive.

What advice to do you have for participating in the Life is Good T-Shirt Design contest this year

Don’t doubt that you can’t win, stay confident, and be yourself with your drawing like I did drawing an excavator.

What do you love to do in addition to being an artist?

I love God, I love Family, I love hockey and lots of sports, and outdoors.
