We want to go big and honor these resilient students in a way that feels worthy of the unprecedented situation they’re facing – and to help share the lessons they’ve learned.
When Life is Good heard about all the semesters cut short, the proms postponed indefinitely, no final games or performances, and the cancelled commencement celebrations, we checked in to see how the class of 2020 was doing. What started as a support blog for ’20 grads quickly became something much bigger. It was clear that this class has a lot to say. They have disappointments and unique obstacles, but even more so they have courage and optimism.
For every viewer of the live commencement Life is Good will donate $1 up to $20,000 to the Life is Good Kids Foundation who work with frontline childcare providers in hospitals, schools and beyond.
CO-FOUNDER OF LIFE IS GOOD & CHIEF CREATIVE OPTIMIST
For five years right after graduating from college, Bert and John Jacobs drove up and down the East Coast, selling their t-shirt designs on the streets and in college dorms. They slept in their van, lived on PB&J, and showered when they could. Then in 1994, with just $78 to their names, they designed their first Life is Good t-shirt to counter the negative news – and discovered how those three simple words could help people to focus on the good. Today, inspired by their growing community, Life is Good is a $100 million positive lifestyle brand dedicated to spreading the power of optimism. John hopes to share with the Class of 2020 a fresh perspective on how their unexpected turns can lead to new discoveries, growth and fulfillment.
