Playing Catch-Up with the Life is Good Playmakers

Each month, The Life is Good Playmers (LiGP) partners with outstanding care professionals and organizations committed to building a more loving, compassionate and connected world.

This month, one of those partnerships brought us to Denmark to lead three days of discovery workshops for Save the Children and for an association of Danish psychologists, social workers, medical professionals and youth therapists.

This is the fourth time that The LiGP has been invited to deliver our content and share our practices and philosophies in Denmark, and I was so hearted to learn more about the “Joyful Play Groups” now running all over the country – especially for refugee children.

Thanks to your loyal support, our movement is taking root near and far and cultivating lasting, positive change everywhere we grow.

Love & Peace,

Steve Gross, MSW

GOOD PROGRESS

Our Work in the Field

Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota

One of the largest children’s health care organizations in the United States is also a massive and meaningful partner with The Life is Good Playmakers. For more than a year now The LiGP Practice & Philosophy has been serving as a cultural operating system throughout Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. More than 100 frontline care and executive leaders from MN are currently benefitting from the support and services offered through LiGP workshops, retreats and resources and on November 21 another 125 nurses attended their first Playmaker 101 Discovery Workshop. More on our partners at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.

Cook Children's Medical Center

In August, we kicked off a partnership with Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX bringing together close to 100 members of their direct care team to discover and connect with our Playmaker Practice & Philosophy through our Playmaker 101 Discovery Workshop. The 101 was so well received that yesterday and today, another 40 attendees participated in our 202 – our next level of Discovery – that takes a two-day deep dive into the purposeful and practical development of the Playmaker approach.   More on our partners at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth.

A Truly Grand Finale

In the first weekend of November, we hosted our final public two-day retreat for childcare professionals working directly with children who’ve suffered early childhood trauma. More than 40 professionals representing more than 20 different health, education and enrichment programs came together to refuel, replenish and begin to replant seeds of optimism into the foundations of their care-settings and their personal practices of self-care. All 2017 Public Playmaker Discoveries were generously supported in part by an anonymous grant from a local foundation. If you’re a childcare professional who’d like to learn more visit our Playmaker page.

GOOD GROWTH

Our Work to Raise Support

#GROWtheGOOD

On #GivingTuesday Life is Good and Eastern Bank launched a very good challenge: offering $1500 mini-grants to good-doers all across the country to #GrowtheGood in their communities. Apply to fund a garden at your local elementary school. To buy materials for knitting hats for preemies in intensive care. To cover the cost of groceries for neighbors in need. Best part – every single (and simple) application earns another $1 to The Life is Good Playmakers from our partners at Eastern Bank.

Slamdunk

If you’ve been looking for a fun and exciting way to donate your time to The Life is Good Playmakers – the Celtics are offering a pretty sweet lay up. On January 18 when the Celtics take the court at the TD Garden against the Philadelphia 76ers, The Life is Good Playmakers will be official recipient of the team’s 50/50 raffle. You can sign up to help us sell tickets on site at the game. You’ll gain access to a special tour of the court, a chance to win some pretty sweet (like autographed) prizes and to team up with other passionate LiGP supporters to win big for our mission. To learn more please email our Donor Relations Manager, Morgan Cirillo.

Share The Love

For the third year in a row MetroWest Subaru in Natick has selected The Life is Good Kids Foundation as their local charity partner for their Share the Love campaign. Now through the end of the year every car bought or leased at MetroWest Subaru in Natick will result in an additional $250 donation to support our mission to spread the power of optimism to help kids heal from the traumas of poverty, violence and illness. Plus, just mention “Life is Good,” on site and you’ll receive special dealer pricing, too! More on Share the Love at MetroWest Subaru.

GOOD PEOPLE
